At ECO13.me you can create a stunning WordPress website in minutes. Simply choose a name and a subdomain. Minutes later your amazing new home is awaiting your arrival.
Assuming you have already found the way in, becoming the proud owner of an awesome WordPress powered website, equipped with powerful tools to optimise it for your specific needs, is just a matter of minutes.
To help you on your way, we illustrate this below with a step by step tutorial.
find the dashboard
First: head over to the ECO13.me dashboard. From there it is hard to overlook the ‘create a new site’ button. Click it to find the site creation screen.
fill the form
On the site creation screen, you can see the sites where you are a member and the following form right below:
1. choose subdomain
New sites are set up in subdomains. Your site’s address will be: subdomain.domain.tld. F.ex. mysite.eco13.me.
If you would wish to use your own domain, you can add it later in the WordPress admin. If not, you may want to include keywords in the subdomain. This could be the name of your website, or search terms related to your niche.
- For the subdomain you can only use lowercase, alphanumeric values: a-z and 0-9
- The minimum number of characters is 4.
The limitations are a WordPress thing. We can change this manually upon request, and we will if the desired subdomain is still available and if you add good reason, e.g. when the name of your site or organisation has less than four characters. To request a change, you can open a support ticket from your site’s dashboard > support tickets.
2. choose a name for your site
Websites have a name. This can be the same as the person or organisation behind it, the topic of your site, or anything else. You can use special characters and spaces and you can change this anytime.
choose a template
The look and feel of a WordPress website gets largely decided by the theme. At ECO13.me you can use any WordPress theme that you desire.
When you create your site, you can choose between two templates. A template includes a theme, but also a couple of plugins and site settings that fit the needs of the theme. This makes it easier to get started.
template = theme + settings + example content
3. Twenty Fifteen or YET:13
You can choose between the default WordPress theme, Twenty Fifteen, or you can select our very own YET:13.
YET:13 for WordPress
YET:13 is the official ECO13 theme. It aims to be flexible, easy in use and friendly to any content.
Do note that the theme is still under development and that there is no documentation available yet. Any questions you may have will be answered in the Q&A corner.
Twenty Fifteen is the latest release by WordPress.org. It is clean, neat, blog-focused and designed for clarity.
In contrary to many other themes, Twenty Fifteen is well documented and easy in use. This makes it a great theme to get started with WordPress.
choose language & confirm
WordPress can be used in any language and is well documented in many. To name a few: العربية • Български • Bosanski •Čeština • Deutsch • Español • Persian • suomi • Français • עברית • Hrvatski • Magyar •Bahasa Indonesia • Italiano• 日本語 • ქართული • ភាសាខ្មែរ • 한국어 • Македонски • Nederlands • Polski • Português • Português do Brasil•Русский • Română • Slovenčina • Slovenščina • Shqip • Svenska • ไทย • Türkçe • Українська • Tiếng Việt • 中文(简体) • 中文(繁體)
4. Select language
Some of these, and some other, are already available at ECO13.me. You can select your language in the dropdown menu. If it is not available, you can open a support ticket and request that we add it. You can change your site’s language anytime in your site’s settings.
5. Create your site
Hit the ‘Create Site’ button to confirm.
When all went well, you will see a confirmation screen stating that the site is yours and that you can take a look. That, however, is not entirely true.
- It may take a couple of minutes before the site is ready.
- And for about 15 minutes you may see a security warning saying that the connection is not private, or something similar, depending on the browser you use.
You can ignore the warning, but we recommend that you wait 15 minutes, then refresh the screen. This way you can be certain that the process was successful and that visitors to your website will not see this warning.
